Student's Words

Natalie (UK)
Hockerill Anglo-European College (Year 9-Year 13)
“Studying abroad has indeed changed my life. Through the challenges in GCSE and IB, I became a person who would think more analytically and my examination skills have also been improved. Some would doubt whether leaving home in such a young age would do any good to a child. For me, it is an opportunity to break down my language barrier sooner and so as adapting to the environment quicker. I have known many friends during my stay, all from different countries and speak different languages, and this provides myself with a broaden exposure to the world.”

Esther (UK)
Stover School (Year 10-Year 11)
Hockerill Anglo-European College (Year 12- Year 13)
“To be honest, I was not an outstanding kid when I was in my junior year in Hong Kong. But after I entered into High Schools in England, my results had improved so much and now I am a law student in Hong Kong. I particularly like the way foreign teachers teach, which focuses more on the process of learning rather than the results. This not only arouse my curiosity in learning, but also helped myself in balancing stress and pressure in life. Studying abroad was indeed a great opportunity to know yourself more and to build your own characteristics.”

Ann (UK)
Sherborne Girls School (Year 12-Year 13)
“What I heard from my friends were that studying abroad would provide us a better environment for learning, and so as to improve my language skills. So I decided to study IB in England. I met worldwide friends, including Germans and Portuguese, they were all very close to me even until now. 3 years ago, I went back to Hong Kong after High School to study Accounting in Hong Kong University and now I am a ‘Big-4’ accountant.”

Felicity (UK)
Coventry University Foundation (2 years)
Bangor University (Bachelors of Banking) (3 Years)
“I have experienced a lot during my 2 Foundation years. It not only provided me a chance to build up my basic knowledge on different areas, but also given myself an opportunity to experience University life earlier. It is more open and free indeed. My result wasn’t good back in Hong Kong and even struggled to get into Universities, but through this ‘stepping stone’, I have turned out to be the person who I have always longed to be. I realised that once I never give up and work hard enough, there is always a bright path laying ahead for me.”

Winki (UK)
Lincoln University (Bachelors of Architecture) (2 Years)
“After my Associate Degree in City University, I decided to go to the Lincoln University in England. Frankly, there is such a big difference between UK universities and the ones in Hong Kong. Generally, life in England is simpler so I became more concentrated on work. Professors in England are more open-minded and focus on individualism, it not only encouraged us to think independently, but also let our creativity shine. More, my exposure towards the world has been broaden tremendously, as I had the chance to visit other countries in Europe and at the same time got to know many friends from different cultural backgrounds.”
