GCE A-LEVELS

The Advanced Level General Certificate of Education (GCE A-levels) is equivalent to the Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination (HKALE) – both of which are completed in F.6 and F.7. The first year of A-levels is the Advanced Subsidary (AS) level and the second year is the A2 level. Students normally start their AS year taking 4-5 subjects, out of which they choose 3-4 stronger ones to focus on when they progress to A2. A minimum of 3 passes are required in order to enter an UK university.
The GCE A-levels allows students to do arts subjects alongside with science subjects and it is less restrictive in subject choices. Most subjects consist of 4 modules and there are 2-4 examination intakes in the two years. Retakes of unsatisfactory modules are accepted, which means it is less stressful and providing students opportunities to try again to achieve better grades!
